Estimated reading: 3 minutes 860 views

You can easily create and embed various types of Lists inside your Contact Button or anywhere on your website without the need of a developer. Contact Button allow you to create lists for nearly anything, but the primary use cases we’ve seen include: Restaurant Menus, Product Catalogs, FAQs, Job Boards & Event Calendars.

Simply complete the following steps to create a new List.

Step 1

Navigate to the Lists Builder page by clicking on the Lists icon in the main navigation menu of your dashboard.

Step 2

If this is the first List that you are creating, you should see a page with different types of Lists that you can create. If you’ve already created a List previously but aren’t exactly sure about the process anymore, simply click on the “Create List” button on the top right corner above the table of lists that now shows on the page.

Step 3

Select from one of the List options you see on the Create List page and scroll down to give the List a name. This name is only for internal purposes so you can easily find the one you want after you’ve created multiple lists.

Note: If you select Product Catalog, you’ll be asked to select a default Currency Symbol that will show up in front of any price you add to your lists.

Step 4

Depending on the List you select, we’ll enable specific fields for you to fill in. You can create a list for nearly anything you want, we’ve simply used these popular list types and fields to help people get started.

For your reference, here are the fields available for each type of list:

Step 5

Once you’ve created your list, you’ll be brought to the List Builder. The first thing you’ll need to do is create a Category. You can create as many categories as you like. Each category will be given a section header and a divider line to add reading clarity.

Step 6

Once you’ve created your initial categories, select the category you want to add items to. You’ll know which category is currently selected as it will have a blue outline to it. Once you’re on the right category, simply click the ‘+ Add’ button on the far right side of the screen and you’ll be able to start adding individual items to that category.

Note: The fields that can be filled in will change depending the list type you selected earlier.

Step 7

After you’ve finished adding all the items you want to your new list, you have two options for how to display it on your website.

1) Go to the Embed tab on the top of the page, copy the iFrame code that you see there, and then add it as a code block on your website wherever you want it to display.

2) Go to the Apps page and create a new app using the “Lists & Menus” button. All you need to do then is select the name of the List you just created and complete the app setup process like normal. Once you save the app, this new menu will display directly inside your Contact Button menu.
